Meridien Hotel Vienna
Two apartment buildings on the Ringstrasse in front of the Opera House and the School of Fine Arts, were selected to be transformed into a 5-star hotel.
The special feature of the project was to bring together, in one object, a building in the classical Viennese architecture, typical of the Ring, of the late nineteenth century, and at the rear, a 1950s building, listed as protected.
The integration was made by the use of a very conceptual unique style for the 300 rooms and suites – as a whole refined, almost minimalist, equally suitable for architecture throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The ground floor has been profoundly overhauled to obtain a single unpartitioned space where the reception, bar, the restaurants and open lounges are located. There is, therefore, no more apparent trace of differentiation between the two original buildings.
